Career Development Day 

Presenting Information

Application now open to

higher education programs of any size and performing arts organizations offering professional training and certification

(provided they employ a full-time faculty member who is an NYSDEA member) through

September 19, 2025 @ 11:59 pm

An opportunity for presenting programs to connect with future dance professionals and promote their programs.  Taking place on the first day of the conference, January 30, 2026, the Career Development Day is open to NDEO/NYSDEA member and non-member high school (10th - 12th grades), undergraduate, and graduate students to explore ways of furthering their dance education and related career paths, while connecting with and taking masterclasses and workshops from presenting programs from across the state, attending a career panel, and networking with the broader NYS dance community.  Dance educators are also welcome to attend sessions as well.

Presenting Institutions Receive

Waived Registration Fees

  • Presenting faculty for the entire 2026 conference (registration required)

  • Career Development Day attendance for a minimum of 5 department students (registration required - opens Aug 27)

Vendor Table

Free vendor table during the Career Development Day with the option of purchasing a vendor table for the following professional development day held on January 31, 2026.

Advertising

  • Institution/Department listed in all conference advertising

  • Institution/Department logo and website link included on the NYSDEA website

  • Advertisement space in our digital conference booklet linked to department URL (horizontal orientation measuring 8h x 5.125w)

REQUIRED MATERIALS

Workshop Information

propose a maximum of 3 workshops per department 

These sessions should serve as representative samples of the program — highlighting its core strengths, distinctive features, or innovative developments — while providing a meaningful and enriching learning experience on its own.  

 

Graduate and doctoral programs may opt to have sessions co-taught by faculty and departmental students, or led exclusively by students, if this approach best reflects the strengths and focus of their program.

  • Ranking: 1 (most preferred), 2 (second most preferred), 3 (third most preferred)

  • Session Type: master class, experiential workshop, or other

  • Session Title

  • Session Level: beginner, intermediate, or advanced

  • Intended Audience: high schoolers, undergraduates, graduates, high schoolers & undergraduates, undergraduates & graduates, or open level

  • Teaching Faculty Information: full name and email address.  Educator submitting the application must to be an NDEO/NYSDEA member through January 31, 2026.  Department/program teaching faculty of NDEO/NYSDEA institutional member programs do not need to be NDEO/NYSDEA members.  Teaching faculty of non-NDEO/NYSDEA institutional member programs must be individual NDEO/NYSDEA members through January 31, 2026.

  • Session Descriptions: maximum of 800 characters, including spaces per session description
