
CAREER DEVELOPMENT DAY

Designed for high school (grades 10–12), undergraduate, and graduate students, the day focuses on exploring pathways for advancing their dance education and pursuing related careers. Participants will engage in workshops led by programs from across New York State and connect with representatives from a diverse range of institutions.
Applications are open to higher education programs of all sizes, as well as performing arts organizations offering professional training or certification. To be eligible, applicants must:

Be a higher education program or performing arts organization offering professional training or certification

Employ at least one full-time faculty member who is an NYSDEA member

Propose a master class, workshop, or similar session for the student Career Development Day
Event scheduling is currently in development, with session lengths anticipated to be approximately 75 minutes. Each participating institution will have the opportunity to present at least once during the day. Additional details will be shared as the schedule is finalized and the number of participating programs is confirmed.

These sessions should serve as representative samples of the program — highlighting its core strengths, distinctive features, or innovative developments — while providing a meaningful and enriching learning experience on its own.
Graduate and doctoral programs may opt to have sessions co-taught by faculty and departmental students, or led exclusively by students, if this approach best reflects the strengths and focus of their program.
